15 Fat Burning Foods

15 Fat Burning Foods

Could merely eating from a list of 15 fat burning foods really be the simple solution to weight loss? What is the best fat burning food? Since reducing body fat requires that you be in a calorie deficit by consuming fewer calories than you burn, these questions deserve further investigation.

Lately, there has been quite a lot of attention given to so-called negative calorie foods. These foods to speed up metabolism reportedly contain fewer calories than are required by the body to digest them (celery and lettuce come to mind).

On the surface, it may seem that simply sticking to this list of fat burning foods would be a sure bet in ridding yourself of those unwanted pounds.

While this theory may hold some very negligible weight, proponents of negative calorie foods are clearly missing the big picture. A list of fat burning foods that contain minimal nutritional value is, in my opinion, trivial at best.

Best Fat Burning Food: The Big Picture

Nutritionally speaking, celery, lettuce, etc., by all accounts, are practically worthless. If you were to constantly fill up on these foods to speed up metabolism (i.e. celery, lettuce, etc.), you would not have adequate room for the important macronutrients such as proteins, healthy fats and complex carbohydrates.

This is not to say that a salad is not a healthy choice on occasion, but these types of foods should be eaten in moderation. Do not get caught up in thinking that a list of 15 fat burning foods will solve your weight-loss problems.

Instead, focus your efforts on the following:

1. Spread your daily nutrition evenly over 5-6 smaller meals. This simple strategy shifts your metabolism into high gear. See more quick weight loss tips here.

2. Choose foods that will provide the energy necessary for you to exercise with intensity. All physical activity requires energy, and physical activity burns calories. Burning calories is the most important factor in body-fat reduction. Learn more about what separates good carbs from bad carbs.

3. Choose foods that will permit you to add lean muscle to your frame. More muscle on your body means you burn more calories. You don’t need to look like a bodybuilder to benefit from this (yes, you too ladies). These foods with protein will do the trick.

4. Choose healthy fats that contribute to a feeling of fullness. When you feel full you won’t be tempted to snack. Snacking has ruined more than one attempt at weight loss. Learn more about fats and nutrition.

5. Remain in a calorie deficit. This is the bottom line, period.

So why no list of the best fat burning foods or foods to speed up metabolism? Quite frankly, you don’t need it. A list of fat burning foods would be a distraction. Even the best fat burning food will do little to reduce body fat without proper exercise. Without proper nutrition your workouts will surely suffer. Without adequate exercise your progress toward body-fat reduction will be painfully slow.
